GOOD QUESTIONS
Frequently asked, floofily answered.
The things Broomfield pup parents actually ask — answered plainly, with only mild floof-related detours. Tap a question to open it. Still stuck? The very bottom of this page has a real human (me) and a phone number.
BOOKING & HOW IT WORKS
-
The easy way: book online — it takes about two minutes and involves zero phone tag. Pick your service, pick your slot, done. Already a Magnolia client? Log in at the same link and use “Book Again” to rebook the exact same service in a couple of taps. Or, if you'd rather talk to a human (hi, that's me), call or text 720-300-6414.

Almost nothing: a place to park the van, and your dog. That's the whole rider. The van is a fully equipped spa that brings its own everything — water, power, tubs, tools, the works — and pulls up right outside your door. New clients complete one intake form before the first appointment (vet info and vaccine records included), and then rebooking is easy forever after. No driving across town, no crate in a loud salon, no handing your pup to a stranger — home is ten steps away the whole time.
-
Most dogs are pampered, polished, and back on the couch in about 1½ to 2½ hours, depending on size, coat, and overall floof volume. Big doodles and heavy shedders live at the long end of that range; tiny smooth-coat pups breeze through. I’ll give you a realistic time window when you book, so you're never left wondering where your dog went.
VACCINES & PAPERWORK
-
Current rabies and distemper/parvo records are required before the first groom. It's not Magnolia being fussy — it's a Colorado PACFA licensing rule, and it's also just good hygiene: current records keep every pup who hops into the van safe, yours included. Send your records along with the intake form, or have them ready at the first visit — a photo of the paperwork from your vet works just fine.
-
Same deal for feline clients: current rabies and FVRCP records are needed before a cat's first appointment. Send them with the intake info or have them handy at the first visit.
THE VAN
-
Nope. The van carries its own water and its own power — no hookups, no hoses snaking through your front door, no mystery spike on your utility bill. All I need from you is a place to park and a dog who is (eventually) getting in the tub.
-
In your driveway, or in street parking right in front of your home. A reasonably flat, cleared spot big enough for one very fabulous van is all it takes. If your street is a parking puzzle, mention it when you book and you'll figure it out together.
COATS & MATTING
-
Comfort first, always. I will never put a dog through a painful dematting marathon just to save a haircut — a cute style is not worth a miserable dog, full stop. If a coat can be safely and comfortably worked out, great, that's the plan. If it can't, you'll have an honest, kind conversation about a shave-down and a fresh-start plan for growing it back out properly. No judgement — it happens to the best floofs, and the floof always grows back. Coat adjustments may apply because time is what's being booked: +$40 for thick/heavy shedding coats, +$50 for long/fluffy coats, and +$75 for doodle/poodle coats.
FEARFUL DOGS
-
That's exactly who Magnolia is for — welcome, nervous pups, this is your place. Start with the $40 Treat & Greet: a no-grooming visit where your dog sniffs the van, meets me, and eats treats like it's a job. Most fearful pups convert to full grooms once the van is a happy place instead of a scary one. And if your dog needs more than one groomer can safely give, we'll say so honestly and kindly.
-
No outright aggressive dogs. I work solo, and safety — your dog's and mine — wins every time. That's not a judgement on your dog; some pups genuinely need a team, sedation support, or a vet setting, and forcing it in a van helps nobody. Nervous, shy, wiggly, dramatic, opinionated? All welcome — that's most of the client list, honestly. Genuinely unsafe to handle? I’ll tell you kindly and help you think through alternatives.
CATS
-
Yes — but let's be extremely clear: not haircuts. The Cat Spa Package (No Water, No Haircuts, No Drama) is $130 and includes nails clipped, toe beans shaved, a full brush-out (shedding undercoat included), cat-safe anti-static dander spray and no-water foam shampoo, a sanitary/belly shave, and shaving of small mats. No full haircuts, lion cuts, or dino cuts on cats. Standalone cat nail trims are $40. Cat baths aren't a regular service — by consultation only, only if absolutely necessary, $170, and only booked after a chat and photos at my call. Text 720-300-6414 to book.
PORTRAITS
-
Every groomed dog gets two custom Magnolia portraits — a classic close-up plus a full-body Halloween portrait — FREE through Oct 31. It's our favourite party trick: your pup, rendered as art, in the signature pink, teal, and purple spots. Starting Nov 1, portraits become a $20 add-on, made on request only. Either way, they're digital files, sent to you to keep, post, frame, and show to strangers in the grocery store line.
PRICING
-
Start with the size chart on the Services & Pricing page, then add coat adjustments if they apply — doodles and heavy shedders take more time (so much floof, so little respect for schedules), and time is what you're booking. Your confirmed quote comes before the groom starts, never after. No surprise plot twists.
WEATHER & RESCHEDULING
-
The short version: I text you by 7 AM, weather reschedules never cost a penny in fees, and snowed-out pups jump the line for the next openings. And let's be precise about “free”: it means no fee to move your appointment — no rescheduling charge, no cancellation charge, either direction. Your pup's groom itself is still the regular groom at its regular price when we get there; the free part is the shuffle, not the spa day. The full, slightly unhinged version is in the winter block right below — it's worth the read.
-
Life happens — here's the deal, plainly. Cancel or reschedule with 48 hours' notice or more: free, no fee, no guilt. Because the van runs on a route planned days ahead, cancellations inside 48 hours are charged at 50% of the booked service, and a no-show (I’m at your driveway and nobody's home) is the full booked price. Running behind? Call: I’ll wait 15 minutes before a missed appointment counts as a no-show — a call changes everything. After two late cancellations or no-shows, future appointments are prepaid in full. No deposits for regular bookings — prepay is only for repeat offenders. If I have to cancel on you, there's never a charge and you get first pick of rebooking times. Genuine emergencies? Talk to me — the fees are for the careless, never the unlucky. Weather is different: rescheduling in snow is always free (see the snow question above).

Winter Grooming, the Safe (and Slightly Unhinged) Way
The Magnolia van is many things — heated, winterized, plugged in on freeze nights like it's charging up for battle. What it is NOT is a snowplow, a toboggan, or an Olympic bobsled. So here's the deal: if CDOT is side-eyeing the roads, so am I. I'll text you by 7 AM, we'll reschedule with zero rescheduling fee (weather amnesty, both directions — no guilt, no charge for moving the appointment, no drama), and snowed-out pups jump the line for my next openings. “Free” here means the reschedule is free — your pup's groom is still paid at its normal price when we finally roll up; a snow day buys you a new date, not a complimentary bath. Running late on a snow day? Blame the van doing 25 in a 45 with its hazards on, whispering “we're fine, everything's fine.” I'll text you if I'm more than 15 minutes behind. Your one job: shovel me a parking spot and a path. I bring the water, the heat, and the blueberry facials. You bring... a driveway I can find. ☃️ Cold alone never cancels a spa day. Your dog has waited six weeks to look this fabulous — a little frost isn't stopping us. Ice on I-25, on the other hand, stops everybody.
